About us
Jacqui Cornell Clinical Nurse Consultant
As a highly experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant, I have dedicated the past 25 years developing my skills and expertise in the field of nursing. My experience is extensive and diverse, including 17 years in both intensive care and emergency nursing. My dedication and commitment to providing exceptional care has led me to work for over 7 years as the Illawarra/Shoalhaven Rehabilitation & Spinal Clinical Nurse Consultant.
But my passion for improving the healthcare system does not stop there. As an executive member of the Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) rehabilitation team, I have been able to further contribute to my field by spearheading initiatives and implementing strategies aimed at enhancing patient outcomes. My role within ACI has allowed me to collaborate with fellow experts in the field, sharing knowledge and expertise to continuously improve the quality of care provided to our patients.
I take great pride in my work as a Clinical Nurse Consultant and am always seeking opportunities to make a positive impact in my field. Through my dedication and extensive experience, I strive to set a professional standard and inspire others to continuously strive for excellence in healthcare.
I helped set up and was instrumental in the improvement of a number of hospital outpatient services in the Shoalhaven, some of which include:
* Spinal Clinic/Service
* Amputee Clinic/Service
* Orthotic Clinic/Service
* Adolescent to Adulthood Transitional Clinic/Service
* Milton Hospital Rehabilitation Clinic/Service
I have completed post graduate studies in both Emergency Nursing, at the College of Nursing, and Rehabilitation & Aged Care, at the University of Wollongong.
I love being a nurse and caring for people both in the hospital and community.
I have been working closely with complex clients in the Illawarra and Shoalhaven since the rollout of the NDIS on the 1st July 2017 and am a strong advocate in ensuring that complex and specialist needs related to a persons disability are always included in their NDIS plans.
I am extremely passionate about timely and accurate communication between clinicians/health care providers and their patients, clients and participants ensuring expert care at all times and the best outcomes for their health and well being!!
My Care Compass JOYRIDE
JOYRIDE was created in honour of an exceptional woman named JOY, whose unwavering strength, determination, and independence inspired me to launch my own nursing business 4 years ago.
JOY's remarkable life was defined by resiliency and determination, despite the challenges she faced following her high level spinal cord injury at 16 years old. Despite being in a wheelchair, her unwavering spirit propelled her to navigate the often difficult world of healthcare for nearly 60 years. Accessing the necessary health care facilities, doctors' practices, and medical imaging proved to be an ongoing obstacle throughout her life, given her specialised needs as someone living with a spinal cord injury. However, JOY never let these difficulties deter her from living an extraordinary life.
Her inspiring journey serves as a reminder of the importance of quality healthcare for all individuals, regardless of their physical abilities.
The primary mission of
My Care Compass JOYRIDE
is to guarantee that individuals with disabilities, psychosocial challenges, complex diseases, or illnesses have unhindered access to exceptional healthcare services.
